Animals of the hollow earth

Description

The inside of our beautiful earth has been silent for quite some time now but that’s about to change...

The rodentitids are an order of mammaloid chordates. They inhabit dry areas near the polar deserts and mountainous areas.
They share a lot of features with their counterparts from the outside world. They have strong beak-like tooth plates to chew off pieces of hard vegetation and a rasping radula to further shred it. They are covered in thin hair-like filaments to keep them warm in the mild temperatures of their habitat.

This slender predator inhabits the marshes and flooded forests of the equatorial zone. They slowly wade through the water on four long legs, using their first pair of legs and their long neck to catch aquatic animals in a lightning-fast whip-like motion. In order to reduce resistance when penetrating the surface of the water, the ears fold back and specialized facial oral flaps cover the eyes. The nostrils can be closed firmly to prevent water from shooting down into the lungs.

"Grubodiles" are amphibious predators that spend most of their lives stationary between the roots of carrot trees in the flooded forests, waiting for prey to swim by. If an animal gets close enough, the grubodile will shoot forward, catching their prey with their enormous jaws riddled with modified prickles.

I love how the Grubodile's maw is similar to Waking With Dinosaurs' Rhamphorhynchus :)
