Aquamoles by juniorWoodchuck Aquamoles by juniorWoodchuck
An old picture I only just finished... It is not meant to be realistic or plausible as it’s just a fun little exploration of the same theme...

As the almost empty ocean waters rose and flooded the lands, a number of animals rose to the challenge, adapted to the new conditions and filled the niches left empty through the great oceanic dying. One of these animals was the star-nosed mole. Over the millennia, they evolved and adapted, fanning out into a myriad of new, incredibly diverse species. Their tentacles elongated, being used as sensory barbels or to grasp their prey. Some even conquered the abyss or grew to incredible dimensions, their tentacles growing into fleshy pseudo-jaws to filter out microorganisms from the water.

I like this concept so much, has great potential to be exploited in some scenario.
There is no possibility that you use it for Terra mirus?

Thank you, I’m glad to hear that! :D
As of now, I really don’t think I will use it for Terra mirus... mainly because i have not yet fully decided on the fate of mammals in that future but also because these designs are a bit too unrealistic for my taste... even for Terra mirus

Awesome! I had a similar concept, but more recently, I've been thinking of changing them to shrews.

Well, shrews would probably be the more realistic option

I don't know, I could see moles becoming more aquatic.

I reckon star-nosed moles have a better potential to become aquatic than regular ones as it already spends quite some time underwater in search for food... Regular moles can swim as well and of course almost anything is possible given enough time, but I still think shrews would be able to make the transition to water sooner than moles as some species already life semi-aquatic
