Description

Some inhabitants of the Libyan savanna
From left to right:

Blind mole rats are small elusive burrowing mammals. They spend most of their live underground, coming to the surface only to procreate. They are completely blind, their eyes are reduced to vestigial lenses under the skin. They have no external ears, just a pair of small holes covered by the dense fur.
They don’t dig permanent burrows but fill their tunnels behind them as they move.
Their limbs are very short and the forefeet have two large flat claws that are used to dig through soft soil and sand. These claws also double as pincers to grab prey - mostly insects and reptiles.
They’ve only got four teeth: two pairs of large incisors and two pairs of large plate-like molars.

Biceratheres are rather small cursorial rodents. Their two horns are used to fend off carnivores. They do not need to drink as they get sufficient amounts of water from their food. Biceratheres form mixed-sex groups of up to ten individuals.

Hyaenofelids are medium-sized cursorial hunters that catch prey with their teeth. They are highly successful animals. Their success is due to their adaptability and opportunism; they are primarily hunters but may also scavenge.
They mate for life and hunt in pairs.

Savanna therizinotheres are the smallest species of therizinotheres. They grow up to 1.6 meters at the top of their head and are specialized to feed on low bushes. They are solitary animals with the only strong bond between a mother and her calf.
