Speartongue

The speartongues are relatives of the arrowtongue. They are native to the equatorial mountain range of Darwin IV. They are the smallest members of the arrowtongue family, averaging about 4 meters in height. They are similar to the arrowtongue in appearance, but they have a higher forehead and characteristic stripes along the sides of their body. 

They are typically the apex predators throughout their range, feeding on animals such as cragspringers, bladderhorns and even keeled sliders.

Unlike their infamous cousin, speartongues are social animals.

The basic social unit of a speartongue clan is the mated pair, accompanied by the pair's adult offspring.

Although the speartongue’s intelligence has not been quantified, reports give indications on the species' ability to remember, associate events, and learn. They even exhibit self-recognition and seem to feel emotions. Like terrestrial elephants, they appear to show interest in the bones of their own kind, regardless of whether they are related. A dying or dead speartongue may cause attention and grief in others.
